I don’t have a post ready for today.
Why?
Because I got a phone call last week from my 14-year-old sister, begging me to help her study for her finals.
Since, you know . . . she’s already close to failing as it is, and she’s not prepared for the tests.
I sat and made study guide after study guide for her, speed-reading through chapters, trying to absorb everything she was supposed to have been learning since the beginning of the year.
After an entire afternoon of trying to get her to stay off her ipod, pay attention to what’s going on, and actually TRY to fill in the answers, she promptly told me she couldn’t do it, because she was bored. And then left.
Which was right about the time I ripped my hair out and poured a very large glass of wine.
*sigh*
Damn kid.

Maybe she absorbed some by osmosis while watching you???
That’s FRUSTRATING!

I hope so. I called our mother afterwards and basically said “if she fails, it’s not my fault. I tried.”
When in truth, I already know that if she does in fact, fail, I’m going to still feel guilty. Figures, right?
Oh Girl! You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink! You are a good sister!

Some days I’d like to shove the horse’s head IN the water. :p
I wish you could help me study. I’m not one of those people that can just show up and listen to a lecture, take a couple of notes, review them like a half hour before the exam and do really well. No, I’m one of those people who has to sit at the front of the class, take exorbitant notes, study for hours on end and then still not do as well as I’d like because my mind goes blank the moment the test is in front of me.
Good luck to your sister, I hope she passes all her finals.

I would love to help you study! I really think I missed my calling as a tutor.
Sounds like damn ungrateful kid to me!
I know it’s her age, but it’s frustrating. Oh, to be young, dumb, and not worried about the future! lol
Nice! Seriously though, how sweet of you to help her out even if she wasn’t appreciative. One day she will look back and realize how incredibly sweet that was of you!

Did I ever tell you how much I love your new blog design and how special you are to me! You really inspire me and I just love you for that. Oh and even if I don’t comment often I really love reading your posts.
This one cracked me up. I can totally relate. When my bro was in JH and HS my mom would always be on him to do his homework which he was not a bit interested in. So she would bug me until I would pretty much do it lol. I was not comfortable doing it for he wasn’t learning it but if you know my mom and her nagging it was just better to just do it lol. Then when it was test time he hadn’t a clue so I would make study guides go over them with him and he would be on his phone texing, or looking at fb lol…I would wanna pull my hair out…then he would be like I’m bored later…lol omg..hahahahha! So girl this post was well written funny and well I feel your pain lol!
xoxo
